Why model numbers matter

A bearing model number is the fastest way to specify the product. Reading it correctly avoids ordering the wrong bore, housing or locking type.

For replacement work, the model number on the old unit is usually the safest single reference, supported by a photo of the installation.

Insert bearing prefix: UC

UC marks a spherical insert bearing. The digits that follow indicate the bore size group. For example, UC205 uses a 25 mm (1 inch) bore.

Mounted unit prefixes

Mounted bearing units add a housing prefix before the insert number: UCP (pillow block / P-housing), UCF (square flange / F-housing), UCFL (2-bolt oval flange / FL-housing), UCT (take-up / T-housing).

So UCP205 means a pillow block unit built around a UC205 insert. The bore is still 25 mm; only the housing type changes.

What the digits mean

In the UC/UCx numbering, the last two digits relate to the bore. A 00-01 style code maps to the bore group: 205, 305 all point to the same 25 mm bore group across the insert families.

Do not read the digits as a direct millimeter value. Always confirm bore from a size table or the product drawing.

Common suffixes

Some numbers carry a suffix such as -12, -14, -16 after the base model. These often indicate inch-based bore variants (for example 3/4 inch, 7/8 inch, 1 inch) of the same insert family.

When ordering, state the full model including any suffix, or confirm the bore in mm and inch to avoid mismatch.

Examples and mistakes

UC205 = insert bearing, 25 mm bore. UCP205 = pillow block unit with UC205 insert. UCFL205 = 2-bolt flange unit with UC205 insert.

Common mistake: assuming UC205 and UCP205 are the same product. UC205 is the insert only; UCP205 is the complete unit.

When confirming a model

  • Write the full model including suffix.
  • Confirm bore in mm and inch.
  • State the housing type if a unit is needed.
  • Share a photo of the old unit if unclear.

Ключевые выводы

  • UC = insert bearing; UCP/UCF/UCFL/UCT add the housing type.
  • The digits indicate the bore size group, not a direct millimeter value.
  • UC205 is the insert; UCP205 is the complete pillow block unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does UC stand for?

UC is the designation for a spherical insert bearing. The following digits indicate the bore size group.

Is UC205 the same bore as UCP205?

Yes, both use a 25 mm bore because UCP205 is a pillow block unit built around a UC205 insert.

Why do some models have a suffix like -16?

Suffixes such as -12, -14, -16 usually mark inch-based bore variants of the same insert family. Always confirm the exact bore.
